MOMS Club® of Colorado Springs, CO - West Chapter

Welcome Guest
Activities

Each month we have several activities. Come to all, just a few or whatever fits your schedule and interests. Members are encouraged to suggest and plan activities. So bring all your ideas and join us!

General Meeting
We meet once a month, on the first Thursday, to resolve club business, discuss upcoming activities and just to visit with one another. We usually have a speaker, a children’s craft or a round table discussion.

Moms Interest Groups and Activities

We have a few groups and are always open to more depending on the members' interests. These are planned with the moms’ interests in mind, but children, as always, are welcome and expected. They have fun playing while the moms chat and enjoy themselves.

  • Cooking Club- Meets once a month, with a different theme for the food each month. (Mexican, Italian, Desserts, etc…) We meet to taste each others recipes (cooked at home before we get together), take  home the wonderful recipes and some yummy leftovers.
  • Book Club- Meets every other month. Members take turns picking the selection.
  • Hiking outings- There are many wonderful hiking areas here that we can explore. Children come along and can hike right there with the moms. A great time for all.
  • Museums- There are several wonderful ones in town to explore.

Moms Night Out

As much as we all love our children, it is important to have mommy time. Why not have mommy time with a group of friends! We have Moms night out once a month on varying days and times. Some of our past Moms nights out activities have included the following:

  • The Golden Bee
  • Movie nights
  • Dinner out at various restaurants
  • Theater performances
  • Pottery painting
  • Night time nature walks
  • Visit the Fine Arts Center

Children’s Activities

We have a few children’s activities each month. We try to offer a variety so they will appeal to different ages and offer more options. Some of the activities include:

  • Park Days
  • The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
  • Fire Station Tours
  • Story times
  • Sing-a-longs
  • Happy Apple Farm (a pick your own berries, apples or pumpkin farm)
  • Visits to the pool
  • Mini-golf

Family Activities

It is fun for the Dads, spouses, and older siblings to meet the friends you make at MOMS Club functions, so we try to all get together a couple times a year. Usually we have a family picnic in the fall and spring at an area park.

Playgroups

We have playgroups made up of members of our MOMS Club chapter. They meet once a week on a set day and time. Groups are usually arranged by the children’s ages. Playgroups frequently meet in member’s homes, parks, libraries or any location that is agreed upon by the playgroup members.

Service Projects

We perform one service project a year, at a minimum, and usually more. Some of the service projects we have done are:

  • Donating money to the Ronald McDonald House
  • Donating goods and money to TESSA
  • Making quilts for donating
  • Preparing bags of snacks and entertainment for Ronald McDonald House

New Mom Support

This is a service our club provides to our members. Not really an activity group, but a wonderful asset for our members. We provide meals to new moms (who we all know don’t have time or energy to cook but need to eat constantly!!) or any mom with a need for extra support (a serious illness or a death in the family). Members volunteer to help out by cooking and delivering meals to those in need.

Baby sitting Co-op

This is a group within our MOMS Club chapter that you may choose to join. It is set up so you can have friends baby sit your child or children and "pay" them with tickets that we exchange for time. You earn tickets by watching other people's children (though everyone is given some to start with) and you "pay" your baby sitters with your tickets. It is a wonderful system to help us get out to doctors appointment, run errands or just for a little alone time with out having to add the additional expense of paying a baby sitter.
